What Pre-Calculus covers
Pre-Calculus pulls together the algebra from earlier courses and adds the ideas that calculus relies on: functions as objects that can be combined and inverted, logarithms as the inverse of exponents, the trigonometric values of special angles, patterns in sequences, and the equation of a circle.
These topics are usually taught in grades 11–12, and the exact course name and grade depend on the school and the province or state. Each worksheet generator has an Easy, a Medium and a Hard level, so a topic can be used when it is first introduced and again for review.
Pre-Calculus topics
Recommended order
- Functions — evaluation, composition and inverses come up in every other topic.
- Logarithms — the inverse of exponential functions.
- Sequences & Series — arithmetic and geometric patterns, a gentle bridge to limits and sums.
- Trigonometry — exact values and basic equations.
- Conic Sections — circles, which also connect back to the unit circle in trigonometry.
Logarithms go much more smoothly after Exponential Equations from Algebra 2, and circles use the completing-the-square skill from Factoring Polynomials.
How to use these worksheets
- Open a topic, choose a difficulty and the number of pages, then press Generate. Every press creates a new set of problems.
- Printing adds an answer sheet on a separate page. The Set ID on the worksheet matches the answer sheet.
- Each topic page also explains the method with worked examples, lists common mistakes and shows sample problems, so it can be used as a short lesson before the worksheet.
